Here is a 10 minute video with photos and video from last year. Starting at the Expo we all try to meet around the same time and brave the crowds to pick up our packets with bib number, and all sorts of useful info for the race. Then we get on line to visit the clothing store. And we can't leave without visiting Fred's Team's booth.

Race day morning we gather in Times Square before sunrise and pose for a big team picture with the over 1,000 runners from Fred's Team and get a few FredsTeamMark pictures as well.

Then onto the bus for Staten Island and the Start Village. This year we raised enough money as a team to get a spot in Fred's Tent. Plenty of extra food and drink and our own private bathrooms. Fun!

One last team picture and then off to the start corrals. We march up to the bridge, listen to the National Anthem and then Frank Sinatra sends us on our way with "New York, New York".

We spend a good amount of time in Brooklyn where the crowds are great, people yelling your name, bands playing and even the lead singer stops the music to shout your name as you run by.

The signs along the route are amazing. I included a few of my favorites. Then through Queens and over the dreaded Queensboro Bridge, a long steep incline on the lower level, but your reward is waiting on the other side. Manhattan's 1st Avenue with the biggest crowds on the course, the video doesn't do justice to the roar you hear when you turn onto 1st Ave.

And then, the best part of the race is a few blocks up on the right side as you run past MSK and see doctors, nurses, patients and friends waiting to cheer you on and take a picture.

You float the rest of the way to the Bronx where you meet the wall at mile 20. But this is where you summon your inner Rocky and fight to win. You are now counting down the miles and you know you are going to make it.

After I crossed the finish line I was able to duck to the side and wait for some friends and my son to cross the line.

I hope you enjoy this snapshot of last year's race and I can't wait to see everyone again in just 5 short weeks.
