Run the NYC Marathon
There is nothing like running the NYC Marathon. Thank you for your interest in Team Mark and the 2025 NYC Marathon. Created by and named in honor of our dear friend Mark Kourey who passed away in 2023, Team Mark formed in 2018 and has consistently been in the top 10 out of the hundreds of fundraising teams that together comprise Fred’s Team.
It is an honor to run in the NYC Marathon and even more so to be able to raise much needed funding for Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) and its groundbreaking work in the fight against cancer. We want to be up-front about what's involved, as this requires a real mix of training, fundraising, and being part of a team. If you are in this just to run a marathon, Team Mark is not for you. But if you are committed to making a difference in the fight against cancer and joining forces with amazing runners of all backgrounds, this could be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life.
Allocations
Team Mark gets an allocation of entries each year, but we won’t know how many we get until February or March. Last year there were over 5,000 on the waiting list, so we will do our best to get you on the team. The minimum fundraising commitment next year will be $4,500. Team Mark has an entry fee of $100 to cover costs. And you are also responsible for an initial donation of $100 to Fred’s Team and a separate payment to the NY Road Runners for the Marathon entry fee. We also recommend you sign up for the NY Marathon Lottery when the window opens https://www.nyrr.org/tcsnycmarathon/runners/entry/2025. If you get in through the lottery (or by time or other means you can still run with Team Mark and your fundraising commitment drops from $4,500 to $100 and frees up another spot on the team for another runner.). Also, please sign up for Fred’s Team as an individual and mention Team Mark in your application. We can’t guarantee we will have enough allocations for the Team, so if you are chosen as an individual you will still be part of Team Mark, but it will free up one more allocation for the team and guarantee your participation. Sign up here https://www.fredsteam.org/events/tcs-new-york-city-marathon/apply.
Running with Team Mark affords you a lot of additional benefits. Team Mark holds monthly video conferences, newsletters and blogs providing guidance and Q&A on Fundraising, Training and Race Logistics with certified coaches and guest speakers. We host an annual dinner after the race in NYC at a restaurant 2 blocks from the finish line for you and your family and friends. These are some of the added value in addition to the many perks and benefits listed on FredsTeam.org. All in all, it is not just a way to get into the most popular marathon, it is an experience like no other, and an opportunity to help fight cancer at MSK and fund research that creates standards of care around the world.
